HANDS-ON BY DESIGN
I'm Eric Clance, owner of EC Building and Remodeling LLC and a licensed North Carolina commercial general contractor.
My approach to construction is intentionally hands-on. I don't want to simply manage projects from a desk or pass everything off to subcontractors. I stay directly involved—from planning and coordinating the work to personally handling many aspects of the construction where appropriate.
That approach comes from years of buying, renovating and improving my own properties. I've learned construction not only from the contractor's side, but also from the owner's side—where every decision affects cost, quality, durability and long-term value.

Owning and renovating investment properties has shaped the way I approach construction. I'm used to making the same decisions property owners face—where to spend money, where not to, what will hold up over time and which improvements actually add value.
That perspective carries into every project. The goal isn't simply to complete the work. It's to make practical construction decisions that balance quality, cost, durability and the way the property will actually be used.

WHAT HANDS-ON MEANS
When I say hands-on, I mean it literally. The majority of the construction work shown throughout this website was personally completed by me—not simply managed or subcontracted.
Depending on the project, that has included demolition, framing, decks, cabinetry, flooring, tile, doors and windows, trim, painting and finish work, along with the countless details involved in taking a property from demolition through completion.
When work requires a licensed specialty trade, I coordinate with the appropriate licensed professionals while remaining directly involved in the overall project.
